Residential Life

Offering a small-college atmosphere at a larger university!
Why be "just a number" when you can be a part of a thriving community? While living on-campus at Binghamton you'll feel that you're at a small college while enjoying the resources of a first-rate university.  Our residence halls offer interactive communities with over 2,000 programs each year!

Making learning fun!
Debates, movie reviews, and field trips - just a few of the ways we make learning fun!  Our students are supported in their academic and personal growth by a tenured Faculty Master, dedicated professional staff, and Resident Assistants.  Our goal is to provide academic guidance and add to your educational experience, while maintaining and enhancing a real sense of community on campus. We want you to feel at home and our staff will work with you to help you connect with all we have to offer!

Bill Ziegler
Faculty Master, Newing
Associate Professor of Computer Science

Professor Bill Ziegler has been a member of Binghamton’s Computer Science Department for 30 years and is now in his 3rd year as Faculty Master of Newing College.

Ziegler has been impressed by Binghamton’s residential life system. “The collegiate structure at Binghamton is unique and second to none. Students experience the concept that just as much learning takes place outside of the classroom as within the classroom. Students living in our residential colleges feel like they are part of a small community, while simultaneously enjoying everything that Binghamton - the Premier Public University - has to offer, from first rate academics to Division I athletics.

Professor Ziegler loves being a part of the Residential Life team; “with all of us striving for the same goals, it is truly amazing what we accomplish for the students at Binghamton.” As a Faculty Master, Ziegler takes advantage of the opportunity to interact with students outside the classroom. “The students at Binghamton keep me young. I love their enthusiasm and energy, mixed with their thirst for life experiences, and I love how much they laugh.”
